The core of KTL’s team started with Optiva, Inc., a California-based company founded in 1997 on the basis of Russian technology and specifically focused on an aggressive IP strategy.
Optiva’s portfolio began with its first patent application, filed in Russia in 1993 which has grown until 2005 to an impressive 70+ families of inventions worldwide.
The developed patent portfolio was in the fields of organic chemistry, film manufacturing, optical and semiconducting devices. By the end of 2004 a total collection of Optiva patents & patent applications included 176 items, of which 43 patents were issued in USA, Russia, Europe, Japan, and China.
Drafting and prosecution of the patent applications as well as the patent portfolio strategy were developed by an experienced IP team that worked between San Francisco, California and Moscow, Russia. The IP portfolio was acquired by Nitto Denko, a multimillion dollar Japanese corporation, which specialized in polarization and other optical films.

The core specialists of IP strategists of Optiva Inc., and also its Russian subsidiary Optiva-Technology, have joined KTL’s team and are strengthened by sharing their wide experience in the Intellectual Property management of the growing high-tech company, planning patent work inside the company and with the national Patent Law Offices.
